Cork Docklands

The Cork Docklands Regeneration Project is the biggest and most exciting development plan in the city’s history.

Cork Docklands Economic Study 2007

An estimated €5 billion is to be invested in the redevelopment of 400 acres on both sides of the River Lee, creating 25,000 new jobs, 6,000 new homes and 560,000 square metres of commercial, retail, cultural and leisure facilities.

The first private development planning application lodged in March 2008, in the heart of the Cork Docklands Regeneration Project is for an impressive new arena with a capacity of over 5,000 people, which will sit at the heart of the proposed Atlantic Quarter. The venue will allow major, first-rate acts to perform in Cork and can cater for anything from major national and international conferences to more intimate, fully seated cultural events.

Additional plans include the construction of a four-star hotel with more than 200 rooms and customisable conference facilities as well as a luxurious leisure centre, restaurant and bar. When completed, this vibrant and stylish new urban docklands quarter will be the very best international example of contemporary waterfront design.
