In Cork, there’s a range of grant aid packages and financial supports and incentives available through the four local enterprise boards to help new business find their feet.
The enterprise boards provide free advice about many elements of the set-up process including
- Training in key areas such as marketing, IT and financial management
- Mentoring with established business people who know the local market
- Networking programmes to help entrepreneurs make new business contacts, increase their customer base and start building turnover
Funding is crucial, and the enterprise boards will also provide expert guidance on how best to finance your new business, whether through private investment, venture capital or lending from financial institutions.
Available funding includes – capital grants, employment grants, feasibility study grants and equity grants.
Plato Cork, the business forum for owner-managers of SMEs, provides support for companies which have just completed the start-up phase and have at least three employees.
